Watson (Peter)

Words from the Gallery

Bold and Brilliant – Peter Watson’s free flowing art, whether it be highlighting the natural wonder of our landscapes, or, depicting rustic shipping boats ‘bleeding’ into a passionate sky, Peter’s art breathes spontanaeity and excitement with each vibrant stroke, strokes that encapsulate the raw beauty of our surroundings.

His skilled eye brings life to the still and passion to the skies.

Background

Peter Watson, studied art at Derby School of Art in 1973 under the tuition of professional artist, Harold Barklam. After a long and fruitful career as a signwriter/screenprinter – Peter’s passion for his own painting took over and has taken him on an amazing journey focusing on local contemporary scenes, from the picturesque sights and landmarks of the Derbyshire countryside and further afield scenes of the british coastline.

“Mood and weather conditions inspire me. Using mainly acrylics on either board or canvas, I like to work at speed to capture the moment in one session. This I feel creates a freshness and vibrancy to a painting that is not overworked.”
