About Me

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see”

HD Thoreau

To be passionate about art, to chat, and describe how each artwork unlocks hidden and open secrets, is for me a joy each day.

A passion for collecting art and in particular ceramics has always run heavily in the family, from my father, and in turn his father’s love of early Staffordshire and early Worcester wares.

With myself it was always studio ceramics that captured my imagination. The variety, fluidity of form culminating in a closeness to the artist, imagining the delicate hands moulding and shaping each piece.

My father awakened this burning curiosity for studio pottery when he very carefully revealed a John Maltby Wall clock for my 17th birthday entitled “Wind fresh to strong… Gale force at times…” featuring a boat that rocked when you pushed the weighted pendulum”.

“Wind fresh to Strong” started the 20+ year passion and expertise for studio artworks that I pride myself with today, and I still have that timepiece  hanging on the wall at home.

It is with that same excitement in mind that I select each piece for my gallery, whether it be Ceramic, Wood, Sculpture or Painting. With the aim of sharing my passion and knowledge for every work of art here with the same tenderness and appreciation that a curator would have in their museum.

“For anyone interested in ceramics and objets d’art, Taurean Arts in Ashbourne is a must visit.
